Detective is a mobile application published by Pera101. This policy explains what information the app handles when you use it, who processes that information on our behalf, how long it is kept, and the choices and rights you have. Please read it together with our Terms of Use.

Detective lets you submit a photo and returns links to publicly accessible web pages on which a face-search provider has found a visually similar image.
Detective searches only sources that are already published on the open web. It does not sign in to accounts on your behalf, does not bypass privacy settings, and does not access private databases, private messages or non-public records.
A result is a possible visual match. It is not a confirmation of anyone's identity, and the pages it links to are operated by third parties we do not control.
To run a search, the photo you select has to leave your device. It is transmitted over an encrypted connection to our face-search provider, which performs the image comparison. We want to be explicit about this: Detective does not perform the search on your device, so we cannot and do not claim that your photos never leave your phone.
We do not sell your photos, and we do not use them to train our own models.
How long the submitted image is kept by the face-search provider, and for what purpose, is governed by that provider's own policy. See section 6.
When you run a search we may process technical information about the request so that the app works, so that we can prevent abuse, and so that we can support billing.
If you create an account or buy a subscription, we process the information needed to recognise you and to confirm what you are entitled to use. Depending on how you sign up, this can include an email address, an account identifier, and a device or installation identifier.
Purchases are made through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Those stores handle the payment. We never receive your full payment card number. We receive a confirmation that a purchase or renewal took place, together with the identifiers needed to link it to your access.
We use RevenueCat to validate purchase receipts and to keep track of subscription status across devices.
We rely on a small number of third parties to run Detective. Each of them processes information under its own terms and privacy policy, which we encourage you to read.
Where diagnostics or analytics are enabled in the app, we process a limited amount of technical information to keep Detective stable and to understand which features are used. This can include the app version, the operating system version, the device model, coarse region information and crash reports.
We use this information to operate and improve the app. We do not use it to build advertising profiles about you, and we do not sell it.
Where the GDPR or comparable law applies, we process your information on the following bases: performance of our contract with you, when we run the searches and provide the subscription you have paid for; our legitimate interests, when we secure the service, prevent abuse and keep the app working; your consent, where the app asks for it, for example for camera or photo library access or for optional analytics; and compliance with legal obligations.
Where the Turkish Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK) applies, we process personal data on the equivalent grounds set out in article 5 of that law.
We keep information only for as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected for, or for as long as the law requires. Account and subscription records are kept while your account is active and for the period we are required to retain billing records afterwards.
Retention of the photos you submit is determined by our face-search provider's own policy, not by us. For that reason we do not promise that submitted images are deleted automatically within any fixed period. If deletion within a specific timeframe matters to you, please contact us before using the app and we will tell you what the current provider policy says.
You can ask us to delete the information associated with your use of Detective by writing to info@pera101.com. Please note that we cannot delete content published on third-party websites that appears in search results — those pages belong to their operators, and requests must be directed to them.
Our providers operate internationally, and your information may be processed in countries other than the one you live in, including countries outside the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Türkiye.
Where such a transfer requires a safeguard under applicable law, we rely on the mechanisms available to us, such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or a valid adequacy decision.
Detective is intended for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to use the app. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly process the personal data of anyone under 18.
If you believe a minor has used Detective, contact us at info@pera101.com and we will delete the associated information.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict how we process it, to withdraw a consent you have given, and to receive your data in a portable format.
To exercise any of these rights, write to info@pera101.com. We will respond within the period required by the applicable law. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority — in Türkiye, the Personal Data Protection Authority (KVKK).
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the information we handle, including encrypted connections between the app and the services it talks to.
No method of transmission over the internet and no method of electronic storage is completely secure. We do not offer end-to-end encryption, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please take this into account when deciding which photos to submit.
We may update this policy as the app changes or as our providers change. When we do, we will revise the date shown at the top of this page. If a change materially affects how your information is handled, we will make a reasonable effort to tell you in the app.
